Laser Skin Resurfacing

The Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment

Laser Skin Resurfacing Results
After the laser skin resurfacing procedure in our Dallas area facility is completed, protective creams may be prescribed and bandages may be applied to the treated area. Ice packs and medication can control any swelling or pain that may occur.
The area treated with laser skin resurfacing will be bright pink for anywhere from a few weeks to up to six months, but medications can reduce the redness. Make-up can be used after approximately two weeks. A strong sun block must be used on the treated area during and after the healing process to lessen the reoccurrence of wrinkles, lines, and dark pigmentation. Should wrinkles, lines, or areas of dark pigmentation recur, laser skin resurfacing can be repeated.
Laser Skin Resurfacing Risks
As with all laser procedures, there are risks involved with laser skin resurfacing. Typical risks are burns caused by the heat of the laser, scarring, and visible darkening or lightening of the treated areas. Fraxel re:store Dual 1550/1927
The Fraxel re:store Dual Laser is considered one of the most exciting advancements in physician directed facial rejuvenation. This new technology, fractional skin resurfacing, treats only a portion of the skin during each session. It is effective in improving skin color and texture, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and minimizing acne and surgical scars with minimal down time.
The technology behind Fraxel treatment is as revolutionary as the results it can deliver. Unlike other laser treatments, Fraxel treatment is able to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of skin, using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin’s surface to eliminate old, damaged skin cells. Fraxel treatment stimulates the body’s own natural healing process, which replaces damaged skin with fresh, glowing and healthy skin.
By design, Fraxel treatments can target approximately 5 to 50 percent of the skin’s surface, leaving the remaining 50 to 95 percent available to quickly heal the treated areas. Laser Hair Removal
The LightSheer permanent hair reduction system is a non-invasive laser specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from any part of the body. The LightSheer system generates intense long-pulsed light through an actively cooled hand piece to effectively disable unwanted pigmented hair follicles, thus impairing their growth. The laser's cold hand piece is placed gently on the skin to deliver pulses of light. When the light penetrates the skin, it selectively damages the root of the unwanted hair. It also helps with pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), or razor bumps, a common condition in which the hair curves back towards and pierces the skin, resulting in a pustule or papule.
Microdermabrasion
This specialized exfoliating treatment polishes and smoothes the skin without chemicals or lasers. It sloughs away dead skin cells to soften fine lines and minimize the appearance of scars and pigmentation and smooth out skin texture. It removes old skin and allows the more youthful and radiant skin cells from the skin rejuvenation therapy to come to the surface. A minimum of four to six sessions is recommended for optimal results.
Chemical Peel
Chemical peel is a good alternative for our Dallas patients who are not eligible for, or decide against, skin resurfacing or laser skin resurfacing. Chemical peels are used to soften the appearance of lines, wrinkles, scars, and uneven pigmentation; control acne; and remove pre-cancerous growths. Because a chemical peel will not remedy all facial lines and wrinkles, it is often performed in conjunction with Botox, Restylane, Radiesse treatments, or a cosmetic surgery procedure. The Chemical Peel Treatment
During treatment, the cosmetic surgeon applies a chemical solution to the area to be treated. This solution removes the damaged outer layers of the skin. Your cosmetic surgeon watches for changes in the skin and uses these changes to determine when to remove the solution from the treatment area.

The Obagi Blue Peel
The Obagi Blue Peel is an in-office procedure designed to improve the appearance and health of your skin. Using a low concentration of the chemical trichloroacetic acid (TCA) mixed with a special blue base to monitor the appropriate depth, the peel effectively removes the surface layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. These dead skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to resurface. One or more coats of the Obagi Blue Peel can be applied during treatment.
The Obagi Blue Peel can be performed on the face, neck, and any other part of the body to improve pigmentary problems. The benefits and process will be discussed with you during your consultation.
Preconditioning of the skin with the Obagi Nu-Derm System is required for 8-12 weeks before the Obagi Blue Peel.
Nipple and Areola Micro-pigmentation
