Skin resurfacing can remedy the wrinkles and lines that are caused by sun exposure, smoking, nutrition, alcohol consumption and, of course, aging and heredity. Brown spots and other discolorations that result from aging, heredity, birth control pills, and pregnancy can be reduced or eliminated with skin resurfacing. Scarring and unevenness caused by acne or illness can be lessened by skin resurfacing. Our Dallas area cosmetic surgeons can show you how!
During the skin resurfacing consultation at our facility near Dallas, our expert cosmetic surgeons evaluate the cause and depth of the skin damage, personal desires with regards to the treatment outcome, and medical history. If it is determined that the patient is a good candidate for skin resurfacing, our doctors prescribe the appropriate skin resurfacing treatment or combination of treatments to best meet the patient's needs. Some of the procedures used are laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels.
Skin resurfacing treatments are very effective, but they cannot solve all facial deficiencies. To provide our patients with the results they desire, skin resurfacing treatments are often combined with other cosmetic surgery procedures such as face lift or eyelid surgery. Please contact Regional Plastic Surgery Center with all of your skin resurfacing questions. In Dallas, Texas, there are no finer cosmetic surgeons to help you meet your appearance-enhancing goals.
Laser skin resurfacing performed in the Dallas area at Regional Plastic Surgery Center is also called "laser peel." The laser skin resurfacing procedure uses a laser to eliminate targeted layers of damaged and wrinkled skin. During the healing process, new cells form. Laser skin resurfacing significantly improves the appearance of the skin.
The laser skin resurfacing technique at our Dallas area facility quickly and safely removes or reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and areas of uneven pigmentation. Laser skin resurfacing can be performed on the whole face or just specific areas. Our Dallas-based cosmetic surgeons will advise you on the laser skin resurfacing area that is right for you.
The laser skin resurfacing procedure at our facility near Dallas uses a beam of light to vaporize the damaged layers of skin. Because of the preciseness of the laser, several layers of skin can be removed if necessary. The treatment usually requires one session, unless the skin is deeply damaged. Our Dallas area cosmetic surgeons will advise you as to the number of laser skin resurfacing sessions you'll need to achieve your appearance-enhancing goals.
After the laser skin resurfacing procedure in our Dallas area facility is completed, protective creams may be prescribed and bandages may be applied to the treated area. Ice packs and medication can control any swelling or pain that may occur.
The area treated with laser skin resurfacing will be bright pink for anywhere from a few weeks to up to six months, but medications can reduce the redness. Make-up can be used after approximately two weeks. A strong sun block must be used on the treated area during and after the healing process to lessen the reoccurrence of wrinkles, lines, and dark pigmentation. Should wrinkles, lines, or areas of dark pigmentation recur, laser skin resurfacing can be repeated.
As with all laser procedures, there are risks involved with laser skin resurfacing. Typical risks are burns caused by the heat of the laser, scarring, and visible darkening or lightening of the treated areas. Choosing a cosmetic surgeon highly trained in laser skin resurfacing greatly diminishes the chances of being harmed by the procedure. The board certified cosmetic surgeons at Regional Plastic Surgery Center near Dallas have years of experience with laser skin resurfacing.
Laser skin resurfacing will not work on all lines, wrinkles, or skin pigmentations. Our Dallas area cosmetic surgeons may recommend other procedures such as face lift or eyelid surgery to achieve the appearance you desire.

The Fraxel re:store Dual Laser is considered one of the most exciting advancements in physician directed facial rejuvenation. This new technology, fractional skin resurfacing, treats only a portion of the skin during each session. It is effective in improving skin color and texture, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and minimizing acne and surgical scars with minimal down time.
The technology behind Fraxel treatment is as revolutionary as the results it can deliver. Unlike other laser treatments, Fraxel treatment is able to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of skin, using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin’s surface to eliminate old, damaged skin cells. Fraxel treatment stimulates the body’s own natural healing process, which replaces damaged skin with fresh, glowing and healthy skin.
By design, Fraxel treatments can target approximately 5 to 50 percent of the skin’s surface, leaving the remaining 50 to 95 percent available to quickly heal the treated areas. Since Fraxel treatment is so precise, it’s safe and effective on delicate skin areas like the face, neck, chest and hands. You can expect two levels of results, immediate and progressive. Immediately after initial healing is complete, the surface of your skin will feel softer and brighter and your skin tone will start to become even. Progressive results occur over the next three to six months as the deeper layers of skin continue to heal.
Finally, you can say goodbye to the effects of sun damage, redness, hyperpigmentation, and more. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™) photorejuvenation is the latest in modern dermatology, allowing patients to transform brown pigment, age spots (sun-induced freckles), and red blotchy skin into a radiant complexion. If you suffer from any of these problems, photofacial treatments may be the dermatological approach you've been looking for.
The LightSheer permanent hair reduction system is a non-invasive laser specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from any part of the body. The LightSheer system generates intense long-pulsed light through an actively cooled hand piece to effectively disable unwanted pigmented hair follicles, thus impairing their growth. The laser's cold hand piece is placed gently on the skin to deliver pulses of light. When the light penetrates the skin, it selectively damages the root of the unwanted hair. It also helps with pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), or razor bumps, a common condition in which the hair curves back towards and pierces the skin, resulting in a pustule or papule.

This specialized exfoliating treatment polishes and smoothes the skin without chemicals or lasers. It sloughs away dead skin cells to soften fine lines and minimize the appearance of scars and pigmentation and smooth out skin texture. It removes old skin and allows the more youthful and radiant skin cells from the skin rejuvenation therapy to come to the surface. A minimum of four to six sessions is recommended for optimal results.
Chemical peel is a good alternative for our Dallas patients who are not eligible for, or decide against, skin resurfacing or laser skin resurfacing. Chemical peels are used to soften the appearance of lines, wrinkles, scars, and uneven pigmentation; control acne; and remove pre-cancerous growths. Because a chemical peel will not remedy all facial lines and wrinkles, it is often performed in conjunction with Botox, Restylane, Radiesse treatments, or a cosmetic surgery procedure. Our Dallas based cosmetic surgeons will advise you as to which procedures will best meet your cosmetic goals.
During treatment, the cosmetic surgeon applies a chemical solution to the area to be treated. This solution removes the damaged outer layers of the skin. Your cosmetic surgeon watches for changes in the skin and uses these changes to determine when to remove the solution from the treatment area.
Our cosmetic surgery center offers many types of chemical peel, including phenol, trichloroacetic acid, and alpha hydroxy acids. The strength of each type of chemical peel can be adjusted to treat your specific level of skin damage. Our expert cosmetic surgeons thoroughly evaluate skin damage, desired outcome, and medical history to determine which chemical peel best suits your needs.
The Obagi Blue Peel is an in-office procedure designed to improve the appearance and health of your skin. Using a low concentration of the chemical trichloroacetic acid (TCA) mixed with a special blue base to monitor the appropriate depth, the peel effectively removes the surface layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. These dead skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to resurface. One or more coats of the Obagi Blue Peel can be applied during treatment.
The Obagi Blue Peel can be performed on the face, neck, and any other part of the body to improve pigmentary problems. The benefits and process will be discussed with you during your consultation.
Preconditioning of the skin with the Obagi Nu-Derm System is required for 8-12 weeks before the Obagi Blue Peel.
